On 16 April, the Times’ Timothy Hyman wrote an excellent review of the Royal Academy’s exhibition Cranach, devoted to the paintings of Lucas Cranach the Elder. The exhibition began on 8 March, and will run until 8 June.

The Guardian has a special feature on the arts in China, in the run up to the Olympic Games in Beijing.  It covers art, music, dance, theatre, and more>.  The China Design Now exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum may be of particular interest to blog readers. It begins on Saturday 15 March and continues until Sunday 13 July.

Today’s Times newspaper has a review of the National Portrait Gallery’s latest exhibition, Brilliant Women: Eighteenth Century Bluestockings.  The gallery’s own website gives some interesting insights into the exhibition and is well worth a look: http://www.npg.org.uk/live/wobrilliantwomen.asp.

 Jonathan Jones has written today in the Guardian about the lack of respect for Stonehenge demonstrated by the Government and big business.  How do you think national landmarks should be treated?

 Do you believe in aliens?  The Barbican’s latest exhibition, the Martian Museum of Terrestrial Art, begins tomorrow (Thursday 6 March).  The exhibition website describes it as follows: “Anthropologists from outer space set out on a mission to understand life on earth. Imagine that they begin their mission by examining the curious phenomenon that human beings call ‘contemporary art’.
