Now that Easter has passed, the Library is once again open as normal:
The Library is also once again fully-staffed. Keep checking the blog for any future changes in opening hours and/or staffing levels.
The following books were added to the Library collection this week:
-
Andrea Schlieker: Art at Regent’s place – shelfmark SCU.GBR.PAM
-
Brian White: Dissertation skills for business and management students – shelfmark REF.WRI.WHI
-
Brian White: Writing your MBA dissertation – shelfmark REF.WRI.WHI
They are all available for borrowing, but you may need to be quick! Some have already been checked out. Please speak to a member of Library staff if you would like to reserve a book that has already been borrowed.
When we receive new books in the Library, we will post a list here on the blog from now on. If you wish to borrow any of the new books, you will find them on the catalogue. Look at the shelfmark, which will tell you where to find a particular book. For example, Judith Butler’s Gender Trouble has the shelfmark THC.BUT. THC means that the book is in the ‘Theory and Criticism’ section, in the basement, and BUT stands for ‘Butler’. The first three letters of any item’s shelfmark tells you in which section to find it, and there are printed lists of the various locations and their abbreviations next to the OPACs (catalogue computers).
If the book is not on the shelf where it should be, but appears available on the catalogue, remember to check the ‘New Books and Current Sales Catalogues’ shelves next to the photocopiers.
The building opening hours will change over the Easter period, and we will not be open as late as we are normally. Please make a note of these changes:
Monday 17 March – Thursday 20 March: 9am- 5pm
Friday 21 March – Monday 24 March: CLOSED
Tuesday 25 March – Friday 28 March: 9am – 5pm
Saturday 29 March: 1pm – 6pm
There will also be less library staff at this time, so we would ask that you plan your library visits more carefully. For example, it might be better to come to the issue desk 5-10 minutes earlier before closing time, to borrow books. The library will be fully-staffed again from Monday 31 March.

The colour photocopier/printer in the Library has been cleaned and serviced this morning. You will find that the coloured lines previously appearing on photocopied documents have now disappeared. The overall quality of printed and photocopied documents is much improved.
The black and white photocopier has also been cleaned and serviced, so you should find that it gives you better quality copies too.
After a week of preparation, the blog has now made its debut. Posters have been put on the noticeboards, and left on the desks. We have also printed out small leaflets, giving the blog name and address, for our readers to take away and use to visit the blog from their own computers. While we wait for that first comment to be posted, please feel free to speak to us about the blog, in person or by email, to let us know what information and resources you would like to see posted over the next few weeks.
